Be an Individual!

Tips for Everyone
Arrive Early

Arrive about 15 minutes prior to your session time. We want to take care of the paperwork and also, Dave, our photographer, would like a few minutes to go over your clothing choices with you. If you need some time to change into your first outfit here or touch-up hair, etc. arrive even earlier.

Choosing your clothing

Solid colors and simple styles photograph well. Medium to darker tones are best for outdoors. Lighter colors are best in the studio on lighter backgrounds. Please do not wear white outdoors.

Please bring your clothing neatly pressed and on hangers (we cannot edit wrinkles)

Eyeglasses

Removing the lenses for your session is highly recommended to avoid glare and distortion. Better yet, borrow a pair of empty frames from your Optometrist. To fix glass glare averages $5-$20 per image.

Portrait Styles

Talk to us about any particular styles, background or location you are interested in.  If you have a particular style of portrait, background, or location in mind for your portraits be sure to talk with our staff. We want to make sure we have enough time and the proper time of day scheduled for your portrait.

Special Effects

We can create all sorts of composites and special effects. Some of these techniques require a particular photography style so be sure to tell us your interests before your session. We can also give you an estimate on any design costs.

Relax

Relax and have fun, we want these pictures to show your personality. If you have some music that would help, bring some CDs with you. Please bring the edited version.

Tips for Guys
Haircutsenior guy

Schedule an appointment to get your hair cut at least a week before your session.

Clothing

Select clothing colors that complement your skin tone.  Long sleeved garments look best but a shorter sleeve is OK for casuals. Stay away from bold horizontal stripes as it is very distracting in photographs. Avoid strong patterns or t-shirts that have writing on them. Don’t forget coordinating socks, belts, etc.

Props

Be sure to bring any additional props you may want in your portraits. Bring along any sports gear and jerseys, musical instruments, hobby items, whatever. This includes pets too. If it’s something major like your car or a full drum trap set make sure we know ahead of time.

Facial Hair

Don’t forget a fresh shave just before your session. Or, if you like your scruffy style, take a few photos with it and then take a break to shave it off to make your mom happy :)

Tips for Girls
Hair senior girl

Schedule an appointment for hair styling at least one week before your session. Stay with a style and color you know you like.

Clothing

Select clothing colors that complement your skin tone.  Long sleeved garments look best, but a shorter sleeve is OK for casuals. Avoid very short sleeves and tank tops (they tend to make your arms look bigger).

Props

Don’t forget any additional props you may want in your portraits. Bring along any sports gear and jerseys, musical instruments, hobby items etc. Also, if you want fresh flowers to hold in the portrait be sure to pick them up from the florist on your way to our studio.

Makeup & Nail Polish

Don't go too heavy with the makeup , but a little extra mascara would do well. A good tip is to do your makeup like you would if you were going out with friends or on a date on a Saturday night.

Choose a neutral or coordinating nail color to complement your clothing and/or skin tone.

*Don't see your school? Give us a call and make your appointment. We always look forward to meeting students from all over the state of Colorado!

You only get to take your senior portrait once (hopefully), so make it the best expression of you.

Capture your personality, style, and interests by bringing several changes of clothes, props, and friends/family. You will want to remember this time in your life, so bring items that identify you.

Further enhance your portraits by choosing different photography techniques like black and white, artistic styles, or composites. There are many different techniques we can do. Just tell us what you want, or ask us for our suggestions, and we will do our very best to capture who you are at this moment in your life.
